I’m a kid of the 90s, as are most of my friends, and my sister and I got to talking about old 90s TV shows we used to watch when we were little. She was trying to get me to remember the show Shining Time Station but no matter what, I just couldn’t remember anything about it except for the title. I guess I must have been too young.

Some of the shows that come to mind when I think about the shows I watched frequently when I was little are Rainbow Brite, Captain Planet, Salute Your Shorts, Lambchop’s Play-Along, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocko’s Modern Life.

Although, whenever I talk to someone about 90s kids shows they all say the same thing; “Why aren’t the kids TV shows good anymore?”. And no one seems to really know why. Maybe it’s the theme songs – you can never forget the unmistakable “Captain Planet! He’s our hero! Gonna take pollution down to zero!”, or maybe it’s just the fact that we’re not kids anymore. 

I remember my sister and I sitting in our little yellow Playskool chairs, watching Rainbow Brite while our dad cooked us breakfast. I think it’s the things like that, that make us (or maybe just me) remember and still love those shows.
